It's a Boy! {Cumming Ga Newborn Photographer}

Here he is! I still can't get over how much hair he has! Meet 22-day-old Caleb, my twin sister's third baby. She and her husband, Michael, decided to go "team green" and not find out the gender before his arrival. They already have a boy and a girl, and with this little one being their "rainbow baby", they felt a surprise was fitting. Though I'm a newborn photographer in Cumming, I'm always willing to travel. Especially to meet my newest nephew!

Since he arrived so close to Thanksgiving, our family traveled up to visit hers in North Carolina for the holiday. Ideally, I schedule newborn sessions between 5-14 days old. Generally, that allows for a smoother session where the little one sleeps more soundly, is able to pose in those curly positions, and the session can move along more quickly. But with Caleb being born a 7+ hour drive away, I just couldn't arrange time for a visit before my boys were out of school for Thanksgiving break.

Traveling for 5 days long distance with a family of 6 (including a baby and the gear that goes with that!)...plus a dog, I didn't have much room left to fit my typical newborn session equipment. I threw a couple blankets, a knitted outfit, and my camera in the trunk and that was it! Nothing like the challenge of photographing a 3-week-old newborn with minimal equipment and a house full of noisy toddlers running around on Thanksgiving Day. But, I made it work and am so happy with how his sweet portraits turned out.

I kept the color choices neutral to work with his older brother and sister's newborn portraits I took for them since Becca wanted to add Caleb's pictures to her stairwell gallery. The cute little beehive blanket in these was crocheted by our older sister, Kaitlin, since Becca and Michael are both GA Tech alumni!

I've shared a couple behind-the-scenes snapshots of my setup, just to share how I can make an in home newborn session work! Also, be sure to have a laugh about how I'm working on stuffing a turkey while my sister is giving Caleb a quick tubby before his session!

Here's a quick snapshot of my setup behind-behind-the-scenes! I utilized couch cushions from the living room, placed him close to the best natural window light available, and used a reflector to fill light back in.
