Simple Studio Newborn Portraits with Baby Girl and Family {Kennesaw GA Newborn Photographer}
I just love that, being a Kennesaw, GA newborn photographer, I get to snuggle sweet babies so often! I aim to offer simple studio newborn photos that allow the focus to be on your newborn baby rather than lots of cute props or busy backdrops. While I do love to incorporate a prop or two during a posed studio newborn session, the simplicity of a sweet little newborn on a blanket is my favorite look for newborn portraits. I have a variety of wraps and headbands available for my newborn babies to use during the session, though I also welcome parents to bring along special sentimental items and blankets to include in the newborn pictures as well, which make the images become that much more special to families as their new little one grows
This little baby doll is Molly, who’s older sister I photographed back a couple years ago. It’s always a blessing to see families year after year as their families grow! I incorporated the same sweet little lace bonnet and blanket that I used in her session to keep things consistent for a canvas gallery, but also included a couple great jersey knit fabrics that I find myself using more often than not these days for newborn pictures.
Typically when a newborn is less than two weeks old, the little one ends up sleeping the vast majority of their session for those sweet, snugly sleepy shots. Little baby girl Molly snoozed early on in her session, but before long she was wide awake and wanted to take the entire experience in with open eyes during her newborn photos. I was just fine with that because it gave us the opportunity to offer her family both sleepy newborn portraits and an gorgeous eye contact pictures! Both the little crocheted blanket and fleece blanket with Molly’s name were gifts from family members that I was happy to work into her studio newborn portraits.
I always love to work family portraits into a newborn session. Oftentimes, mamas just don’t feel their best or up to the task of pulling together family outfits. I had worked with this mama ahead of time to coordinate a wardrobe for her family that would flow well with the rest of Molly’s newborn session. My studio newborn sessions typically take place at my home studio in Kennesaw, GA. With two older siblings, both toddlers under 4 years old, I had my work cut out for me to get those precious sibling shots. It can be quite a challenge to set up poses for toddlers holding a newborn baby, but with some Baby Shark playing and a little Photoshop magic, I delivered some beautiful family and sibling portraits. I just love big brother’s natural tendency to rest his head on Mama’s knee, don’t you? This was one of the family’s favorites from the session and they ordered a canvas print to compliment some family portraits we did just a couple months ago!
