Family Maternity Pictures in Cumming, GA {Forsyth County Family Photographer}
We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather for this sweet family maternity session near Cumming, GA! I just love every opportunity I get to work with this sweet family over the years! We met at a great park in Cumming for pictures that was absolutely picturesque. Being early October here in Georgia, the leaves were just beginning to change color. This Forsyth County park is perfect for family pictures at sunset because the sun sets just behind the trees and offers the most incredible sunsets. Toddlers have the opportunity to run and explore a bit along the hilly trails, wooden bridge, and grassy slopes.
For many busy moms, figuring out what the family should wear for pictures is daunting! I offer a complimentary Style & Concept meeting for all my clients to tackle this task so it isn’t put off until the last minute. I met with Amy a couple weeks before their family pictures at her home in Cumming, GA to help pull together coordinating wardrobes. Amy has lots of greens and earthy tones in her home decor, so I selected a button down shirt for her son to wear, which had a plaid pattern with soft greens and navy blues. From there, I found the perfect dress for Mama, baby sister, and a solid green button up for Dad. We were able to pull together everything they needed for their family pictures from what she already had on hand!
I always like to keep toddlers entertained during sessions, incorporating games between the more polished posed portraits. For these family pictures, I had the kids run under the blanket. I just love the mixed emotions from those images! Since another baby sister is on the way, I did maternity pictures of Mama as well during this session.
I had in my mind to create a special image for this family at this particular park. I knew I wanted to do a silhouette of the family on top of the hill to honor their rainbow baby (which is a baby born after a loss). It is vastly different from my typical edits, but it has a special meaning for them. Their son had nicknamed their baby "Milky Way" during her previous pregnancy, so I wanted to tie that in to honor their family's journey. I am so very proud of this image, which placed 56th out of over 18,000 photos in the Creative Projects category in the 2019 Shoot & Share Contest.
I just love to help create not just a picture of a family, but a meaningful portrait that tells a family’s story. What is unique about your family?
