Intimate Yonah Mountain Wedding {North Atlanta Wedding Photographer}
I really enjoy photographing intimate weddings in North Georgia and this small wedding at Yonah Mountain Vineyards was just beautiful. I met Caitlin and Nick for coffee before they booked me as their North Georgia wedding photographer in order to discuss the details of their wedding day plans and share examples of my wedding albums. I take time to do this with all of my wedding inquiries to meet with couples for the opportunity to get to know each other, see if we’re a good fit, and address questions and wedding collection options.
They shared with me that they were drawn to my photography style, which they interpreted as clean and true to life. I very much appreciated that acknowledgement because I strive to offer timeless photography that does not follow contemporary trends. I apply the same philosophy with my wedding coverage as I do with my portrait photography; my goal is to deliver high quality, tangible prints and products of my clients images that will look just as beautiful in 50 to 100 years as they do the day you receive them. I learned that they were planning a small, intimate wedding in the North Georgia mountains because they loved hiking and being outdoors and wanting to incorporate that in the setting of their wedding. They had invited their immediate family members and Caitlin had spent hours creating handmade details for the wedding.
Their wedding day at Yonah Mountain Vineyards had rain clouds gathering even as I pulled in early on in the day. Caitlin & Nick had planned to hold their ceremony in the actual vineyards at the top of a hill overlooking Yonah Mountain and the gorgeous grounds of the vineyard. I went back and forth between the locations where both the bride and groom were getting ready, documenting the day as it unfolded.
The bride and groom exchanged gifts before I took Nick outside into the gardens to arrange the First Look! The First Look was something that Caitlin had expressed great importance during the consultation, so I made sure to find a setting that was intimate and provided a great backdrop. We were even visited by several hummingbirds at this location! It began to drizzle just after the First Look, which forced us to put the ceremony on pause while we had a look at the weather radar to determine what the next step would be. The drizzle turned into a downpour and we soon realized that we would unfortunately have to relocate the ceremony from the vineyard to the beautiful event center on the grounds. I quickly scouted out several location options and found a covered porch area that still provided a beautiful view of the grounds and kept with the original reason they had booked the winery venue for their wedding.
After a quick setup, the coordinator ushered their guestsin and Caitlin & Nick walked down the aisle together and made their vows before their closest family members.
The rain tapered off after the ceremony, so we hopped on the golf cart provided by the grounds to capture some bride & groom portraits at the location where they had originally planned to hold the ceremony. We even caught some sunlight peeking through the clouds before we headed back down to the wine cave, where their intimate formal dinner was to be held.
Despite the mid-day downpour, we were still able to take full advantage of outdoor wedding portraits on the Yonah Mountain Vineyard grounds! At their Ordering Appointment, they chose a beautiful pearlescent creme leather cover for their wedding album and a stunning canvas of them with Yonah Mountain behind them, just as the clouds were rolling off. I love knowing that on their first anniversary (and their 50th!), they’ll be able to pull out their wedding album, snuggle up on the couch, and relive the day moment by moment!
