Starrs Mill Family Pictures {Atlanta Family Photographer}

I grew up on the southside metro Atlanta area, in Peachtree City, affectionately dubbed “The Bubble” by locals. I spend my childhood riding my bike on the network of golf cart paths through town, playing in the woods, playing club softball and competing in running. After my husband and I got married, we spent our first 6 years in North Carolina before moving back to my hometown to be closer to our families. At the time, I was pregnant with our third little boy.

During the transition back to Atlanta, I had put my professional photography studio on hold for about a year before getting my business paperwork filed with Georgia and Fayette County. I loved being back in my childhood stomping grounds, rediscovering Fayette County parks and finding the best locations for family portraits near me. One of my favorite parks tucked away on the south end of Peachtree City (technically Fayetteville) is the cutest little red mill named Starr’s Mill. It’s just around the corner from my high school, which is named after the mill. Starr’s Mill was actually featured in the movie, Sweet Home Alabama!

All this to say, we spent about two years in my hometown before moving to the northside of Atlanta in Forsyth County. Since I had reopened my portrait studio and done some family pictures in the Peachtree City area during our time there, this wonderful family had come across some of my work and commissioned me to capture family pictures at Starr’s Mill.

I drove from my home in Cumming, GA to meet with them for the family portrait Design Consultation at their home in Peachtree City. It was a bit of a drive, but one I was happy to do because approaching the session with a plan of how the portraits will be displayed in a home is an important step of the process. We went over product options, wardrobe recommendations, and I grabbed snapshots of the walls in their upstairs hallway they were considering for hanging their family pictures.

The day of their photo session was a little overcast, but still very nice weather. We spent about an hour exploring the different areas that Starr’s Mill has to offer.Their adorable daughter, who just started Kindergarten, was so much fun! She loved the opportunities I gave her to run around and play between the more posed family portraits. How adorable are the pink boots her Mama had picked out for her?! My boys are really into wearing their cowboy boots, so I thought it was so fun!

A couple weeks after their family portrait session at Starr’s Mill, I met with them to present their family pictures and help them design a gallery for their upstairs hallway. This is a preview of their wall art selection that they made during the Ordering Appointment. They also chose to have several smaller gift prints made as well as family Christmas cards to send out this year!
